Surface mine Krs is located next to Ljubovija and it is a site of technical stone dacite of eruptive origin. This quarry has been active since 1954, and by 1968 it only produced cut stone for the roads of the time. From 1968 on, it also started producing aggregates for asphalts.
The quarry was privatised in 2002, and in 2004 a new, modern Metso Minerals plant was installed. Its annual capacity of all fractions is 500,000 tonnes.
Since 2014 the owner of the Surface mine Krs is Teko Mining Belgrade.
Teko Mining owns its own laboratory which conducts internal examination of stone, while the official reports on quality are issued by accredited laboratories in Serbia. We have attestation for all fractions produced at the quarry.
Crushed fractions from the quarry Ljubovija are used primarily in railway, as category I ballast. Alongside the production of ballast, there is also production of fractions widely used in the making of asphalt concrete for upper layers of roads with heavy traffic load. Stone fractions form the quarry Ljubovija can also be used for making special construction concretes.
